Environmental conditions and children’s health

 Fedotova N. Y., a general practitioner, Simferopol.
People all over the world are getting more anxious about a steady increase in allergic diseases. Unfortunately, the conventional medicine considers them an incurable pathology, i.e. a sick man has to avoid a certain allergen all his life. If he happens to be in contact with it, he has to take antihistaminic or even hormone-containing drugs in some chronic cases.

It’s often impossible to avoid an allergen. A sick person can’t help inhaling pollen of blossoming trees, bushes and grass that fills the air. If a man is allergic to pollen, he has to take antiallergic drugs for a long time, during the blossoming period. People, allergic to house dust, are in contact with it all the year round, so, they have to take antihistaminic drugs all the time.  Various healthful food products often happen to be allergens.  We often hear about an allergy to honey or strawberries.  Those, who are allergic to these food products,   have no opportunity to get all essential trace elements with honey, essential vitamins and minerals with fruit. It’s a great pity when children are devoid of this opportunity, as they need to get all essential elements for their normal growth and development.  Here’s a question:  what are we supposed to do?  To take antiallergic drugs, that are often harmful, all our lives? People with long-term allergies become allergic even to antiallergic drugs! In this complicated situation, the conventional medicine can offer only hormonal medicine that makes all other drugs ineffective. Besides, hormones   have a number of side effects.

Isn’t there a way out of this sad situation? In fact, the situation is not hopeless, there still is a way out. This article deals with  alternative  opinions of allergic pathology,  new approaches to diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases,     prevention of  allergies, ( how to behave not to fall ill with an allergy(for those who don’t have it) or  how  to avoid recurrence of  allergies later).

Certainly, if  a  person  had to take  hormonal drugs, he/she   can’t be cured  fully,  but  his/her  condition   can  be greatly improved.

The Definition of allergy

The term “allergy” is traditionally used to describe various immune reactions of the body, induced by its sudden extreme sensitivity to various substances, accompanied by damage of body tissues, spasms and other symptoms. It’s a mistake of our immune system; this extreme sensitivity develops on these substances entering the body repeatedly.

The alternative medicine has a different definition for “allergy” – it’s   elimination of toxins from body tissues (or rather, from cells) that  doesn’t take place in its usual way,  but through additional  excretory canals,  i.e. through the skin  or the mucous  membranes ( of the  eyes, nose, upper respiratory tracts or  bronchi), induced  by an allergen.

Thus, an allergy  indicates that, first, there are  lots of toxins in the  body, second, the  function of the main organs helping to  eliminate and  neutralize  toxins (the intestines, liver, kidneys, sweat glands) is decreased. As a result, wastes are eliminated through the skin (called a big liver) and/or through the mucous membranes, most often, through the upper respiratory tracts, bronchi (they start “working” when the skin can’t eliminate toxins any more). That’s why  the  case  history  of a  man, suffering from  allergic  rhinitis  or bronchial asthma, reads that  some time ago  he  had  either nettle-rash or  dermatitis  or  eczema ( sometimes  even  10 years  ago). Frequently, a skin rash accompanies allergic rhinitis or asthma.

So, allergic manifestations on the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tracts indicate that the pathologic process is more serious than just skin problems.
Unfortunately, the illness can be aggravated by hormonal ointments, prescribed       to treat various skin manifestations of unknown etiology. Hormonal ointments block elimination of toxins through the skin. The body still needs to get rid of them, so it starts eliminating them through the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tracts or bronchi. Thus, using hormonal ointments to treat different kinds of skin allergy, or diathesis, we can provoke bronchial asthma.

Body cleansing programs can bring on a reverse process.  For instance, when taking a body cleansing program, a man, suffering from bronchial asthma, can get   a skin rash or an intensive nasal discharge, and there’s no need to worry about that. It indicates that toxin accumulations are being eliminated, and the disease is going away.

Toxins
What are toxins that we are talking about and how do they enter the body?

The first factor is an adverse effect of the environment.

Radiation.  The consequences of Chernobyl  accident  are still having  an adverse  effect on  inhabitants of  Ukraine and countries bordering on it,  and this effect  can’t just  disappear  as if by magic. Leukemia (oncological disease of the blood), myomas and mastopathies have become much younger in the last few years. If formerly, leukemia affected   people over 40, at present, there are many cases of leukemia in people, aged from 20.  Myomas and mastopathies are also affecting younger people. Radiation damages, first of all, the lymphoid tissue (that is our immunity!), bone marrow and endocrine (hormonal) organs.

Sun tan. Besides radionuclides, resulting from Chernobyl accident, you can get them when sunbathing during the period of the maximum solar activity (from 11a.m to 15p.m.).

Radionuclides appear in the body after X-ray examination and radioisotope investigation. They also result from electromagnetic field exposure (mobile and radio phones, radio and TV stations, microwave stoves).  All these factors have an adverse effect on our health. (See the article “Protection against EMF exposure – “Neitronik”).

Industrial toxins.  Another group of toxins entering the body from the environment consists of industrial and air emissions, and exhaust gas emissions.   There are also some positive moments in terms of ecology about many plants not working now. Still, there are lots of unfavorable factors in our life, such as an increase in cars on the roads. Together  with food products (Bush’s  legs, fruit, vegetables, etc.), our body  gets  various  means of  chemical protection of plants (pesticides, herbicides, etc), means for increasing crop capacity (nitrates, nitrides) in agriculture and productivity  in stock-raising.
Everyday toxins. We are daily in contact with household chemicals (air fresheners, washing detergents, polishing means, varnishes and paints). Women are in contact with cosmetics (lipsticks, mascara, powder, cosmetic pencils) and perfumery (deodorants, perfumes, nail polishes, hair dyes, hair lacquers, shampoos). All these  substances are highly volatile, they  have a high content of flavors, dyes and other  chemical components  which are often  toxic   substances  that  can  enter the body through the  respiratory tracts or skin.

Toxins resulting from bad habits. Another large group consists of toxins that get into the body due to an unhealthy life-style. Once again, we can’t help mentioning such bad habits as excessive use of alcohol and smoking which are harmful to health. 10 or more cigarettes  a day  lead to  irreversible changes in the lungs that decrease the  protective   functions of the  mucous membrane  of the bronchi (to say nothing  of an adverse effect  of  nicotine on  the vessels, liver and other organs).

Food toxins.  The next group of toxins includes food toxins.  Lots of people don’t even suspect that an unbalanced diet is very dangerous as it leads to toxin accumulation in the body.  As to alcoholic drinks, we don’t use them daily, but we need to eat every day. Not without reason, an ancient proverb says, “I am what  I eat”.   It’s desirable that we shouldn’t eat much sweet and farinaceous food, fried and fatty food. Harmful or atherogenic products are saturated animal fats, such as fat of pigs, butter, home-made sour cream, as well as coconut oil, as they contribute to formation of cholesterol plaques on the walls of vessels.

There’s an opinion that the human body is badly adapted to digest meat, especially such as pork and mutton. Meat, chicken and fish broth                               (usually given to sick people) are still harder to digest.  The same can be said about our favorite dishes, served on celebrations as kholodets (jellied minced meat) and aspic. Products, formed in the body after eating meat and meat broth, bring about processes of decay and fermentation in the intestines, which increases body acidity level. All oxidation-reduction processes and functions of the cells in a healthy body occur normally in a slightly alkaline medium with pH=7.2-7.4(it’s the pH of our blood, intercellular fluid, lymph and saliva).

Acidic medium contributes to numerous diseases (including allergies) and premature aging. Alkaline medium in the body can be created due to raw vegetable food, dried fruits and daily use of “Coral-Mine” water.

Most products, we buy now in supermarkets, don’t satisfy quality requirements and belong to the group of genetically modified products (GM-products).

Drug toxins. They result from drug abuse. In our contemporary life, drug use is becoming excessive: we have a headache and take analgin, a rise in temperature -   again analgin. Having a slight cold, we start taking antibiotics. Nevertheless, a high temperature indicates that the body is fighting against an infection and the immune system is in good condition.  If the temperature is lower than 39.0 degrees   and it’s not accompanied by delirium and convulsions, it’s better  not to bring down  the temperature but to  let the body fight,  which  will result in  a quicker  recovery without possible  consequences  and  symptomatic relapse.
